Bharathi Association in co-ordination with The Indian Club is planning to celebrate “Pongal”, the Tamil Harvest Festival with pomp and vigour. The celebration will be a whole day event at The Indian Club on Friday the 13th January 2012 starting from 10 A.M. "Pongal" is a Thanks giving Harvest Festival celebrated every year in mid January all around the world by Tamilians to mark the harvest of crops and a special thanksgiving to God, the sun, the earth and the cattle. Tamilians draw kolams (Rangoli) on the door step, consume sugar cane, and prepare sweetened rice, milk and jaggery in new earthen pots. The 15th year annual event of The Bharathi Association is expected to attract more crowds this year. A series of Entertainment, Dance, Music, Adventurous Sports, Games and Fun activities have been lined up. Traditional Pongal Lunch with variety of vegetarian dishes served in Banana leaf, cooked with freshly harvested rice will be served to Members, Guests and Pass holders. ...
