Bharathi Association is organizing a Grand Pongal Festival as a part of Indian Club Centenary Celebration at The Indian club premises on Friday the 9th of January 2015. Several Tamil Small screen artistes will be performing on the stage including Srithika, Suhasini and Jayakumar.
SRITHIKA
Srithika, is admired as a versatile artistes and has gained popularity as an actress, TV shows anchor, singer and also as a dancer. She rose to widespread prominence and became a household name after accepting lead character role as "Malar" in the serial “Nadaswaram” (Sun TV) as a role model daughter-in-law. Notably she bagged “Sun Kudumbam” award for her excellence in this serial.
Her other famous serials are “Mamiyar Thevai” (Zee Tamil) , “Uravugal Sangamam” (Raj TV), “Vaideghi” (Jaya TV), Uyirmai (Zee Tamil), and the upcoming serial “Uyarvu” (Sun TV).
She has acted in several Tamil films including “Venghai”, “Madurai to Theni”, “Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu” etc.,,
JAYAKUMAR
Another popular singer featuring in the Pongal event is Playback singer Jayakumar who has in his credit 17 years of experience in Indian Film Light music Industry.
He has performed in Star Night shows all around the globe including Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Kuwait, Srilanka, Indonesia and Thailand. He has sung alongwith Top playback singers including S.P.Balasubramanian, Vijay Yesudoss, Harini, Grace Karunaas, Malysia Vasudevan, Shankar Ganesh, Anuradha Sriram, Mano, S.Janaki, and in the concerts of M.S.Vishwanathan and Ramamurthy.
SUHASINI
She has acted in many Tamil movies such as “ABCD”, “Bambara Kannaley”, “Aaru”, “Thillu Mullu”, “Thambikku Endha Ooru”, “Jagan Mohini”, “Nimirnthu Nil” and also appearing in the upcoming movies such as “Palakkattu Madhavan” and “Ithanai Naalai Enghirundaai”. Suhasini has also acted in multi number of TV Serials namely “Magal”, “Muhurtham”, “Vaira Nenjam”, “Sorgam”, “Nimmathi”, and “Thendral”.
Currently she is doing serials such as “Deivamagal”, “Bhairavi” for Sun TV and “Akka” for Jaya TV. She has won the best singer award in “Sun Super Kudumbam Season 2”. Having an experience of 20 years’ in the Light music Industry, she has appeared in nearly 3500 stage performance.
Bharathi Association, a registered association under the Ministry of Social Affairs, Kingdom of Bahrain is Celebrating this Grand Pongal Festival in Indian Club premises continuously for the past many decades.
Pongal, is the cultural and heritage celebration of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Today, Pongal has become a vibrant festival with a global presence celebrated with much amusement by Tamilians all around the world.
The whole day event with festive mood at The Indian club is expected to attract a crowd of nearly 5,000 people. It will be celebrated in three sessions with the same vigour and enthusiasm as in homeland.
‘Kolam’ decorations, ‘Pongal’ cooking with freshly harvested rice, adventurous Sports and games activities will be held in the Morning session from 10 am onwards. Traditional Pongal Feast will be served with variety of dishes during the Afternoon session and the audience will be treated with a spectacular cultural event in the Evening session.
The highlight of the evening session is the Star Nite Light Music Show by TV artistes along with cultural shows. Large number of Tamil people from the nuke and corners of the island is expected to attend this nostalgic annual event, The Entertainment show is promised to keep the audience in a lively mood where a variety of Tamil Hits from Old and new movies will be presented supported by Music City orchestra led by Rafeeq.
The programme is open to all and there will be no entry fee. Doors open for the Musical Programme at 6.00 p.m. and the show kicks off at 6.30 p.m.
