Bharathi Association in co-ordination with The Indian club is planning to conduct a semi classical concert “A Tribute to M.S.Subbulakshmi”. Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi better known as M.S.Subbulakshmi (16 Sept 1916 - 11 Dec 2004) is the first musician ever to be awarded the 'Bharat Ratna', India’s highest civilian honour. Also She is the first Indian musician to receive the 'Ramon Magsaysay award', Asia's highest civilian award, in 1974 with the citation reading "Exacting purists acknowledge Shrimati M. S. Subbulakshmi as the leading exponent of classical and semi-classical songs in the Carnatatic43 tradition of South India”. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had this to say about M.S. Subbulakshmi - "Who am I, a mere Prime Minister before a Queen, a Queen of Music".
